Chick Flick Battle: filming and editing
Lately I've studied Audiovisual communication, and during studies we had a major filming project. The process included screenwriting, shot design, location scouting, casting, art design, light design, sound design, editing and colour grading. My role on the shoot was Director of Photography, so I did quite a lot of filming. After the project we each created our own version of the story. Here’s my final edit, where I’ve used independently my own point of view in sounds and editing.
In filming we used Red Scarlett camera to keep the quality as good as possible. Visual and sound editing was done in Premiere Pro, and color grading in DaVinci Resolve. Titles were designed in Illustrator and animated in After Effects. I also recorded one sound effect in the studio, and mixed it using Premiere.
Aino Venna music video ‘Avaruus’
Outside school I was part of a crew filming Aino Venna’s music video called Avaruus. Filming took a couple of days, and I assisted in building lights, as a gaffer and all things in general. The film was mainly shot in slow motion, to create a certain effect.
Beats and Styles music video ‘Still alive’
I was part of a team filming music video for Beats and Styles. My tasks included assisting in everything, for example filming, managing the lights and creating the sets.
Commercial for FreshStop coffee shop
My first individual client assignment was to create a short commercial video for FreshStop coffee shop. The main idea came from the client, but I had quite a lot of freedom to use my own vision also.
I was the director and cinematographer, and the screen play and shot list were also created by me. I also had two assistants with me, Miila Lindfors (playing the customer) and Matilda Lönnberg (helping with the lights). Thank you!
We shot the video during one day, located in FreshStop Eliel, Talvipuutarha and the surrounding city area in Helsinki.
The material was transcoded using DaVinci Resolve, edited in Premiere Pro and rendered with Adobe Media Encoder.
Helsinki Drag Battle: multicamera editing
As a student group we did a recording of the Helsinki Drag Battle 2017, taking place at Gloria cultural centre. We had four cameras filming each artist, and afterwards we each did our own multi-camera edit of one of the artist’s performance. Here’s my edit of the fabulous Miss Vinyl Envy.
The video was shot with Sony F350 and Sony EX1 cameras. Multi-camera editing was done in Avid Media Composer, colour grading in DaVinci Resolve, and sound mixing in ProTools.
Eiran elegia: filming and editing
‘Eiran elegia’ is a result of a school assignment, where the goal was to select one part of Helsinki and make a short video out of it.
The video was shot with Sony RX10 camera and edited in DaVinci Resolve and Premier Pro. Final rendering was done with Adobe Media Encoder.
A short X-mas video using After Effects and Premiere
I made a video to say Happy X-mas. I used some free photos from Helsinki City Museum and the sound of the famous Cookie Monster.
